The Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) is wrapping up their 2026-2027 school year budget consultation period after hosting two sessions this November. PRSD held one consultation for Parent Advisory Council members on Nov. 10, and had a general community consultation on Nov. 19.
Both sessions were described as, “informal conversations to grab as much information as possible to gather what you value for the children in your communities,” as Ashley Lachance, PRSD chair said.
A wide variety of questions were asked as PRSD aimed to develop a strong understanding of what is needed within the division to provide quality education for their students. Those in attendance at the community consultation suggested they were looking for additional hands-on opportunities like trade programming, first aid training and health care aide programs, a communal kitchen space, full time kindergarten, a safe, reliable and supportive learning environment, and that they value the nutrition, art and music programs the division already provides.
PRSD is accepting comments through a Google Form, and all questions asked at the live-sessions are available for viewing on the form. Responses are accepted until Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 9 a.m. at www.g.prsdmb.ca/board/financebudget. Paper copies are also available in school offices.
