Threshing Day returns to Ashern with family fun, food and music

Date:

The Ashern Pioneer Museum is bringing history to life on Sunday, Aug. 10 with its annual Threshing Day celebration — a full day of family-friendly activities, music, and heritage demonstrations.

Set on the museum grounds at #26 1 Street South, the event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine.

The day kicks off with a 10 a.m. church service inside the historic St. Michael’s Anglican Church. Live music follows throughout the afternoon, featuring local singer-songwriter Neil Thornham and a lunchtime performance by Manitoba rockers Geoff Erickson & The Rockets from 12 to 1 p.m.

Kids can get hands-on with a quilting project from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., enjoy the bouncy castle all day long, and take in the spectacle of The Bubbleman from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The museum grounds will be bustling with the scent of barbecue burgers and fried dough boys available all day, with refreshments to match.

The highlight of the afternoon — a live threshing demonstration — is set for 3 p.m., offering a glimpse into early prairie farm life and showcasing antique machinery in action.

Admission: Adults $5 and children 12 & under $2.

All ages are welcome to this celebration of local history and rural traditions.
