The public is invited to attend the 8th Annual General Meeting for Red River North Tourism(RRNT), taking place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, at the Gynor Family Regional Library in Selkirk.

Presented by Red River North Tourism Inc. the event brings together a membership of individuals and regional businesses and operators active in the tourism industry. Admission is free and doors open at 6:45 p.m.

The meeting will offer a review of tourism initiatives undertaken over the past year, and the results of those efforts to contribute to the local economy. This will include reporting on RRNT signature events such as Holiday Alley and the Garden & Art Tour.

The role and continuing participation in provincial tourism efforts will also be reviewed. Red River North Tourism is an active member on the Boards of both the Interlake Tourism Association (ITA) and Tourism Industry Association of Manitoba (TIAM). TIAM is the leading voice for industry advocacy in Manitoba, working directly with government, and collaborating with tourism stakeholders in the province to foster a competitive and prosperous visitor economy. ITA focuses on collaborative marketing and promotion of all the visitor services, features, and attractions throughout the Interlake, bringing together a network of community efforts.

“The AGM offers an opportunity to meet those in the community who are active in tourism,” explained RRNT President Lois Wales.

“It’s a chance to learn more about the economic and cultural importance of tourism to our community and all the potential benefits,” she added, “We’ll discuss the role and accomplishments of Red River North Tourism, and plans for the future of tourism in the region”.

Admission to the AGM is free, and attendees may enter to win an exciting door prize, such as tickets to the Garden & Art Tour in July or an exclusive guided Mural & History Tour for up to ten people.
