Fresh off a career-best season, Leif Mattson will be back in Quad City colours.
The Southern Professional Hockey League club announced last week it has re-signed its top scorer, who led the Storm with 31 goals and 37 assists in 55 games during the 2024-25 campaign.
The 26-year-old from Thompson will enter his fourth season with the Storm after turning pro in 2021 with Tours in France’s second-division pro league.
Mattson played his junior career in the Western Hockey League with the Spokane Chiefs and Kelowna Rockets after AAA seasons with the Interlake Lightning in Stonewall. He also has 34 games of East Coast Hockey League experience.
Since joining the Storm in 2022, Mattson has helped the club to back-to-back President’s Cup playoff appearances and earned SPHL First All-Star Team honours in each of the last two seasons.
He is the franchise leader in goals with 67 and sits second in points (144), behind only Tommy Tsicos (164).
