Carman-Dufferin Recreation Programming is calling all crafty kids for a week of colourful chaos and creativity.
Crazy Art Week, running Aug. 5 to 8, is the next themed camp in the organization’s summer day camp series, featuring four days of hands-on projects and imaginative fun.
Rylie Cox, day camp coordinator, said she’s especially excited about the camp’s opening day, which kicks off with a two-hour art session at the Golden Prairie Arts Council.
“We meet at GPAC with Nigel Bart to create something great,” said Cox. “It’s a really special way to start the week.”
While the exact activity at GPAC is being kept under wraps, campers can expect a week filled with playful art-making, including shrinky dinks, a personal jellyfish, and a wacky alien.
“All supplies are provided — kids just need a good pair of runners, sunscreen, a bathing suit, water bottle, and a peanut-free lunch and snacks,” Cox said.
Crazy Art Week is open to children ages 5 to 12, and is part of a broader lineup of themed camps continuing through August.
Camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Carman Community Hall (60 1st Ave. NW), with drop-off and pick-up available an hour before and after the main programming. Campers may register for single days or the full week.
Daily fees are $30 on special event days and $18 on regular days. Pre-registration is required and remains open until the day before each session at www.carmandufferinrecreation.com.
