Elm Creek’s Martin running for Ward 2 councillor in RM of Grey by-election

Date:

On March 20, the RM of Grey will hold a by-election for its Ward 2 councillor to replace Ian Woods, who served from 2022 to 2024. Brandi Martinand  Bert Van Der Steen are the two candidates in the running.

Elm Creek’s Martin is very excited to throw her hat in the ring as a candidate in this by-election.

Going into her eleventh year as a community resident and being a dedicated public servant, Martin is passionate about making her municipality an even better place to live, work, raise a family or just stop in on your way by.

“As a 37-year-old mother and a full-time professional working in a municipal setting, I understand the challenges families and working residents face every day,” said Brandi Martin. “I know what it means to balance a career, family responsibilities and community involvement. I believe that experience gives me a valuable perspective on the needs of our town.”

If elected, Martin’s priority as a council member will focus on creating policy and procedures that benefit as a whole, responsible fiscal management, improving local infrastructure, and ensuring that the RM of Grey remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant place for all.

“I am committed to supporting local businesses, advocating for smart growth and working collaboratively with residents to address concerns and find solutions that benefit our entire community.”

Martin is running for Ward 2 councillor because she believes in the power of community engagement and the importance of local government in shaping our daily lives.

“I want to be a voice for you, which means listening to your ideas, addressing your concerns, and making sure that every decision made reflects the best interest of our community as a whole,” said Martin. “I look forward to meeting with many of you over the next coming weeks to discuss your vision for Ward 2, as well as the municipality as a whole, and how we can work together to achieve it.”

Residents are encouraged to email Martin at brandikmartin0822@gmail.com if they would like to chat or arrange a meet-and-greet before the election polls open.

Advance voting will occur at the RM of Grey municipal office in Elm Creek on March 12 between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voting day will be on March 20 at the Elm Creek Community Hall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
