Members Eden and Bailey opened the event by welcoming guests and leading the 4-H pledge, reinforcing the group’s commitment to clear thinking, loyalty, service and better living.

This year’s programming included the club’s annual horse camp, led by Kristine Bergen and Faye Duchak, and featured lessons from instructor Brenda Rinneberg. Camp activities covered a wide range of equestrian topics including braiding, liberty work, desensitizing horses, standardbred racing, and show preparation. Members also took part in crafting, line dancing and making homemade horse treats.

The camp wrapped up with a public demonstration showcasing members’ developing skills such as cart driving, bareback riding, pole bending, jumping, and performing tasks like opening and closing gates while mounted. The performances were met with enthusiastic applause from the crowd.

Head leader Lindsay Hoffman presented plaques to nine new riders, bringing total membership to 20 this season.

Throughout the year, members participated in six weeks of riding lessons with Equine Canada-certified coach Alex Buskens and attended a jumping clinic led by Jessi Good. They showcased their riding skills at the Portage and Carman fairs and took part in the 4-H Rally in Brandon.

Club members were also active beyond the saddle, participating in the 4-H curling bonspiel and a variety of camps. Winter activities included monthly business meetings, a pole-painting project that now brightens the fairgrounds show ring, and a tubing day.

Communications remains a key pillar of the 4-H program, with members competing at the club, area and provincial levels. Several Graysville members advanced through the ranks this year. Paisley Kehler earned the provincial title in the intermediate speech category, while Bailey Dyck represented the club with her visual presentation.

With another successful season complete, the club continues to foster leadership, confidence and horsemanship in its young members.
