After nearly a year since it cut the ribbon and threw open its doors to guests, the Blue Crescent Hotel in Arborg is celebrating a year of strong performance.
Built by Steel Creek Developers, the new hotel just south of town opened in December 2024 and quickly established a presence in the area.
Trevor Rempel, Steel Creek’s vice president of sales & marketing, said the hotel has had a strong performance since it opened and was designed with expansion in mind.
“[The local independent owners] would like to see a restaurant built next door but that would need a restaurant group to do it,” said Rempel. “The hotel itself is designed for expansion but that will likely not happen until a few years in if it continues to show strong performance. They are closing in on a full year being open and it’s been a very strong start for the hotel.”
The hotel offers 30 guest rooms with unique suite designs that promote private space and include fridges and microwaves. It also has an indoor pool, waterslide and hot tub, a fitness room, a large meeting room and a daily complimentary breakfast. Small pets are permitted with prior arrangement.
Town of Arborg mayor Peter Dueck said the hotel has been very beneficial for the town and is well used by local residents, businesses and contractors working in the area.
“The hotel has been so well supported by contractors, businesses and individuals. We would have never imagined how well the community would support the hotel,” said the mayor. “There have been sold-out nights because the community is so amazing. [Contractors and tournaments have used the hotel] and it has changed the way weddings, socials and other big events can be hosted. Huge thanks to the community.”
In addition to the Blue Crescent in Arborg, Steel Creek has built Blue Crescent hotels in other rural communities such as Carman. The family-owned company is in the process of building Blue Crescent hotels in Niverville and at Deacon’s Corner. The company also constructs apartment buildings and Tim Hortons coffee shops.
The Arborg Blue Crescent Hotel is located just off Highway 68 on Vigfusson Road, east of Highway 7.
