Berens River RCMP arrest two youths following handgun discharge

Date:

On June 7, at 7:30 p.m., Berens River RCMP attended a residence in the community after receiving a report of shots fired by two unknown males.

Officers attended immediately and learned that two males came to the residence, with one firing the gun at one of the residents but missed. The suspects left the property in a pickup truck. Further investigation led officers to another residence in Berens River where they found the two males hiding in a bedroom with a loaded Glock handgun in their possession.

Upon arrest, the two 15-year-old males were also in possession of ammunition for this handgun, a large amount of Canadian currency and drugs individually wrapped. The Glock has never been registered in Canada leading officers to believe that it may have been smuggled from another country.
