Coffee and donuts for a cause: Tim Hortons Camp Day a success in Gimli

Date:

Coffee, iced coffee and donuts added up to more than just a sugar rush last month as Tim Hortons locations across Canada and the U.S. raised funds to send underserved youth to camp.

In Gimli, Camp Day on July 16 raised $1,528.75 through beverage and donut sales for Tim Hortons Foundation Camps. Additional funds came from bracelet sales over a two-week period ($282), donation badge sales ($38), and a separate $20 contribution — bringing the local total to nearly $1,870.

“Compared to past years, we saw even more engagement from our guests, team members and communities,” said Sojan Varghese of the Gimli location. “Each year brings its own special energy, but this time, the awareness and generosity felt especially strong.”

This year, the Gimli team also welcomed a former camper from one of the Foundation’s Saskatchewan camps, who shared how the program had changed their perspective and set them on a path toward a better future.

Camp Day was first launched in 1991 and has since raised more than $262 million for the Foundation Camps, which provide year-round programming for youth aged 12 to 16. In 2023 alone, Camp Day raised $12.8 million.

“Camp Day is more than just a fundraising event — it’s a movement of hope and opportunity,” said Varghese. “It represents our commitment to supporting youth from underserved communities and helping them grow into confident, resilient leaders. For our communities, it’s a powerful reminder that by coming together — even through something as simple as buying a coffee — we can make a real impact in a young person’s life.”

Tim Hortons has officially confirmed that during Camp Day on July 16, 2025, over $13 million was raised nationally to benefit the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps for youth from underserved communities.
