Sports logo workshop set for Nov. 25 at 4:30 p.m.
The Creative Cocoon in Arborg is tapping into two childhood passions — art and athletics — with a new sports logo workshop for kids starting at 4:30 p.m. set for Nov. 25 at the 440 Recreation Centre in Arborg.
The 1.5-hour session is being led by Creative Cocoon chair Jenna Stansell and co-chair Lisa Klym, who are donating their time to host the program. Klym said the idea grew out of watching how naturally kids connect their love of sports with creative play.
“We noticed how much kids love sports, and we wanted to give them a chance to express that passion in a creative way,” she said. “At The Creative Cocoon, our mission is to provide engaging and inspiring art experiences for kids. This workshop is a natural fit — it supports both creativity and a love for sports, and we hope kids take away a real sense of pride.”
Families who register are asked to indicate their child’s favourite sports team, allowing instructors to prepare ahead of time. When the workshop begins, participants will be welcomed with a short discussion about individuality and self-expression, emphasizing that every piece of art is unique.
From there, kids will sketch their chosen team logo onto artist paper before using pastels to add colour, shading and detail. Stansell and Klym will guide them through blending and technique to help bring each design to life.
The workshop is open to children ages six and up, including those turning six in 2025. All supplies are included for $15.
Registration is now open, and families can sign up by DMing The Creative Cocoon on Facebook or emailing info@thecreativecocoon.ca. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged.
Klym said the organization has more programming planned throughout the winter.
“We’re scheduling additional kids’ paint nights and hosting a holiday floral workshop for adults in early December,” she said. “In the new year, we’ll also be offering dance classes for youth aged 5 to 13-plus.”
