Dunstone captures PointsBet Invitational title

Team Matt Dunstone — featuring Gimli’s Colton Lott — captured its first PointsBet Invitational championship after defeating Team Brad Jacobs 6-4 in a hard-fought men’s final in Calgary on Oct. 5.

After finishing runner-up in both 2022 and 2023, Dunstone’s Winnipeg-based rink finally broke through, earning $42,500 in total — $35,000 for the title and $2,500 for each of its three pool-play wins.

The victory capped a strong week at the WinSport Event Centre, where 10 of Canada’s top men’s teams battled in the single-pool, winner-advances format. Dunstone’s squad went undefeated in Pool B, earning a direct berth to Sunday’s championship game, then controlled the final from start to finish.

Team Jacobs, representing Calgary, fought back from an early 3-1 deficit but was unable to overcome Dunstone’s precise shot-making and steady sweeping from brothers E.J. and Ryan Harnden.

For Lott, who hails from Gimli, the win marked another milestone in what has already been a successful 2025 season.

Next up for Team Dunstone is the Grand Slam of Curling’s CO-OP Tour Challenge, set for Oct. 14–19, where they’ll look to carry their momentum into another stacked field.
