The Lundar Falcons opened the scoring but couldn’t hold off a steady La Broquerie push, falling 5–2 to the Habs on Saturday night at Lundar Arena in Capital Region Junior Hockey League play.
After a scoreless first period, Lundar’s Braeden Lukas put the Falcons ahead with his sixth of the season, finishing a feed from Gavin Miller with 19 seconds left in the second. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Habs responded just over a minute later with a goal from Felix Asselin, then struck twice more before the end of the period. Chase Plett and Connor Tallaire both found the back of the net as La Broquerie carried a 3–1 lead into the third.
The Habs added to the advantage in the final frame with goals from Gabriel Asselin and Yanik Gagnon. Lundar’s Taylor Paupanekis answered at 14:14, converting a passing play from Tyler Van Dam and Ronin Mouck to make it 5–2, but the Falcons couldn’t close the gap further.
Goaltender Seth Hasker made 29 saves for Lundar, while the Falcons generated 31 shots of their own but were unable to capitalize on six power-play opportunities.
Lundar sits sixth in the CRJHL standings with nine points through 11 games.
The Falcons head to Arborg on Friday, Nov. 14, to take on the Ice Dawgs at 8 p.m.k.
