Lightning bested in recent slate, continue to hunt for first win.

The U15 AAA male Interlake Lightning remain in search of their first win of the Manitoba AAA U15 Hockey League season after dropping three games last week.

Interlake opened the week at home Thursday with a 6-1 loss to the Central Plains Capitals at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex. Titan Kirkness scored the lone Lightning goal, notching his first of the season with 42 seconds left in the opening frame to cut the deficit to 2-1 before the Capitals pulled away with four goals in the second period.

On Saturday in Warren, the Lightning were handed a 12-1 loss by the East Division-leading and still-undefeated Eastman Selects. Eastman built a 12-0 lead before Owen Webb broke the shutout midway through the third with his fifth goal of the season.

Interlake then travelled west Sunday to face another powerhouse in the unbeaten Brandon Wheat Kings, falling 18-2 at J&G Homes Arena. After Brandon jumped ahead 9-0, Zachary Schram put Interlake on the board with a power-play marker — his third of the season — followed less than a minute later by Charles Tucker’s first of the year to make it 9-2. That was as close as the Lightning would get, with Brandon scoring the rest of the way to hand Interlake its 13th loss.

The Lightning sit fifth in the Central Division at 0-13-2 and prepare for another two-game weekend.

Upcoming games

Saturday, Nov. 29 — vs. Southwest Cougars, 2 p.m., Arborg & District Arena
