Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued recalls the week of Dec. 8 for a number of products including potato bites, marijuana and a toaster oven.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a recall notice on Dec. 9 for McCain Tasti Taters brand Crispy Potato Bites because of pieces of plastic. The products were distributed across Canada, including Manitoba.
The recall affects Crispy Potato Bites in an 800 gram package with UPC 0 55773 00079 5 and-Crispy Potato Bites in 1.8-kilogram packages with UPC 0 55773 00306 2.
Health Canada issued a recall notice on Dec. 9 for certain Jonny Chronic Reefer-Ready, Jonny’s Stash and Northern Lights dried cannabis and pre-rolls from JC Green Cannabis due to a labelling issue.
The products were distributed in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario.
“The labels for the affected products have incorrect cannabinoid values. The labels show that the Total THC and Total CBD values are higher than the actual values,” states the recall notice.
The recall was triggered after JC Green Cannabis conducted “additional non-routine testing” on the products.
Eight products were recalled: Jonny Chronic Jonny’s Stash – Rotating Indica Reefers [Indiana BG] pre-rolls, Jonny Chronic Jonny’s Stash – Rotating Indica Reefers [Indiana BG] pre-rolls, Jonny Chronic Northern Lights Reefers pre-rolls, Jonny Chronic Northern Lights Reefers pre-rolls, Jonny Chronic Northern Lights Reefers pre-rolls, Jonny Chronic Northern Lights Reefers pre-rolls, Jonny Chronic Northern Lights Reefers pre-rolls and Jonny Chronic Reefer-Ready Indiana BG.
Consumers can check the recalled products’ associated lot numbers, product sizes, packaging dates and other information on the alerts and recalls webpage at Canada.ca to see if a product they may have already purchased is affected by the recall.
There were 4,659 units of the recalled cannabis products sold from Sept. 19 to Dec. 4, 2025.
“To date, JC Green Cannabis Inc. and Health Canada have not received any complaints or adverse reaction reports about the recalled lots,” states the recall.
Consumers can contact the store where they bought the cannabis if they wish to return the products.
They should also report any health or safety complaints by filling out a Cannabis Reporting Form online at https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-medication/cannabis/recalls-adverse-reactions-reporting/reporting-form.html.
Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and Sunbeam Products Inc. issued a joint recall notice for Oster French Door Toaster Countertop Ovens because of a burn hazard. The oven’s doors can “unexpectedly” close.
“Immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Sunbeam Products Inc. to arrange to obtain a free repair kit,” states the Dec. 8 notice, which was originally published on Sept. 25 with one fewer model number.
The Dec. 8 recall pertains to Oster French Door Toaster Countertop Ovens with the following model numbers: TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDGDS, TSSTTVFDDG-033, TSSTTVFDXLPP-033 and TSSTTVFDDAF-033.
“The recalled ovens have a spring-loaded bilateral ‘French door’ made of glass with metal handles. The four models differ in cooking options (e.g., air fryer) and control types (analog dials or digital push-button controls). ‘Oster’ is engraved on the front bottom right of the oven. The model number can be found on the backside of the oven as well as on the original packaging,” states the recall.
Sunbeam reported that 170,560 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, and 1,290,000 were sold in the United States from January 2015 [sic] to July 2025.
As of Dec. 4, 2025, Sunbeam received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the U.S., however, there were 95 reports of the doors unexpectedly closing and resulting in burns. There were two reports of second-degree burn.
