Pumpkinfest has become a beloved tradition for families in Teulon — and this year, even a steady downpour couldn’t dampen the fun. Spirits remained high on Sept. 20 as people gathered to take part in a full day of fall festivities.
The celebration kicked off with the Teulon & District Lions pancake breakfast, and as the morning unfolded, children dashed from one activity to the next. From face painting and games to slime-making, a pie-eating contest and a petting zoo, there were smiles all around.
Vendors showcased their creations while the stage remained lively throughout the day with musical performances, dancing, a magic show, circus acts, a dog show and a cutest-baby contest.
The Teulon and District Agricultural Society also marked 101 years of its annual horticulture show. Participants displayed their gardening skills in a range of categories, with the main event — the Largest Pumpkin competition — drawing plenty of attention. Jason Terwin of Carman took first place with a 1,146-pound pumpkin, followed by his mother, Marlene Terwin, whose entry weighed in at 937 pounds. Aurele Meilleur of Fisher Branch placed third with a 783-pound pumpkin.
Baking, canning, fruits and vegetables, and floral arrangements brought vibrant colour and flavour to the show, while artwork by budding young artists added a creative touch to the day’s displays.
