Two of Boyne Regional Library’s dedicated volunteers, Doreen Dick and Lorraine Moncado, are putting their talents to work one square at a time.
The pair recently spent an afternoon assembling packages of knitted and crocheted squares, which will later be joined together to create cozy afghans for those in need. Once all the square bundles are prepared, the library will be seeking additional volunteers to help stitch them into 5-by-7-square afghans.
Each completed blanket is donated to Carman Palliative Care, offering warmth and comfort to patients and families during difficult times.
Library director Diane Cohoe said the project continues to bring the community together through generosity and creativity.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who has donated squares, yarn and time to help keep this wonderful community project going,” Cohoe said. “Every piece that’s contributed helps us create something that brings warmth and comfort to others.”
The library continues to accept donations of knitted or crocheted squares and wool throughout the year.
