The RCMP Report

The RCMP Report is a short overview of the calls received in our area by local law enforcement. This report covers Jan. 1 to 15. 

Grand Marais and Area

Grand Marais and Area received 10 calls for service between Jan. 1-15.

2024-01-02. Police received a report of dangerous driving on Highway 59 in the RM of St. Clements. A black sedan was weaving in and out of traffic and driving erratically. Police were unable to attend, yet made contact with Powerview RCMP in the event the vehicle was heading their way. 

2024-01-06. Police were called to assist ambulance a possible impaired driver on Stead Road in the RM of St. Clements. The vehicle was located and investigation revealed the driver was having a medical emergency and not impaired. Ambulance attendants took over and ensured the driver was cared for.

Red River North and Area

Red River North and area received 164 calls for service between Jan. 1-15.

2024-01-03. Police were called to a possible theft to a residence on Bray Road in the RM of East St. Paul. The caller reported an unknown black truck was on their property. Suspect(s) left the property immediately upon seeing the caller. Police patrolled the area, but did not locate the suspect vehicle.

2024-01-03. Police were notified of two suspicious people calls to properties on Old River Road in Narol, MB. Unknown suspects walked onto the properties and around buildings. Police were advised that nothing was taken at this time.

2024-01-04. Police attended a multi vehicle collision on Highway 44 in the RM of St. Clements. Investigation revealed a black truck was swerving all over and collided with an oncoming SUV. Further investigation resulted in the driver of the black truck to be arrested for impaired driving. This matter is currently before the courts.

2024-01-04. Police were advised of an unknown male walking close to traffic in the southbound lane of Highway 59 in the RM of East. St. Paul. Police attended and patrolled the area, but the unknown male was not located.

Selkirk and Area 

Selkirk are Area RCMP received 355 calls for service between Jan. 1-15.

2024-01-01. Police were called to disturbance on Vaughan Ave. in the City of Selkirk. Investigation revealed an intoxicated male was causing issues with others at that location and claiming he had a weapon. Further investigation revealed there was no weapon. The male was arrested causing a disturbance and lodged for intoxication. The male was released once sober with no charges.

2024-01-03. Police were called to residence on Main Street in the City of Selkirk. An unknown white SUV was parked in the driveway and the caller was worried they were watching the property. Police patrolled the area but did not locate the vehicle.

2024-01-06. Police were called of a theft of vehicle from a business on Manitoba Ave. in the City of Selkirk. Investigation revealed the caller left their black sedan running unoccupied and the same was stolen from the location. Police continue to investigate.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious circumstances to the RCMP.
