While school was out for summer, Interlake School Division staff were hard at work completing projects at different schools.
At Brant-Argyle School, the community sign was equipped with electrical and network connections, an electrical panel for the stage was installed and boiler repairs were done.
At Balmoral School, a new 20-foot by 20-foot garage was built.
Teulon Elementary School received new cubbies for grades 3/4 and 5/6 areas. The school also got an electrical upgrade, a PA system replacement and new fencing between the soccer field and bus loop.
Teulon Collegiate’s culinary arts room underwent upgrades, complete with LED lighting, and all classrooms were painted.
At Stony Mountain School, the electrical panel was replaced, new upper and lower cabinets were installed in one classroom and new security cameras were added.
At Warren Elementary School, the PA system was replaced. And at Warren Collegiate, projects included drainage improvement at the track site, upgrades to the fire alarm system, installation of electric basketball net motors and installation of additional security cameras.
At Ecole R.W. Bobby Bend School, hallways were painted and new handwash sinks were installed.
Ecole Stonewall Centennial School now has a fully accessible kitchen for culinary arts and new main entrance flooring.
Collège Stonewall Collegiate projects include painting the exterior of the 1961 section and installation of a new water fountain.
Rosser School had new metal grating installed at the north door.

• At the inaugural school board meeting for the 2024-2025 school year, elections took place to name the chair and vice-chair. Gord Greasley was elected as board chair, Sally Cook was named vice-chair by acclamation,
• Interlake School Division’s transportation department is in gear for the 2024-25 school year. This year, the school division is transporting about 1,670 students on 34 routes. Currently, the division has 12 spare buses. A bus driver course is being offered this fall. Last year, nearly the buses drove nearly one million kilometres combined.
• The school division will offer a Leadership Development Learning Network course.
• In total, the school division welcomed 216 kindergarten students: 17 at Balmoral School, nine at Brant-Argyle School, 14 t Rosser School, 72 at Ecole RW Bobby Bend School (43 in English and 29 in French), 17 at Stony Mountain School, 27 at Teulon Elementary School, 18 at Warren Elementary School, 22 at Woodlands School and 20 at the colony schools.
• Interlake School Division received $168,000 in provincial funding to provide accessible nutrition programming. The school division has partnered with Community Living Interlake to deliver nutritional products to several schools. At the same time, the initiative provides employment opportunities for community members who work at Something Beautiful.
• The school board received information about a few overnight trips approved by the superintendent for upcoming high school sporting events.
• Kathy Simcoe has joined the curriculum team in the new position of Indigenous education support teacher.
• The school board approved payment of $74,000 to upgrade Stony Mountain School’s mechanical system.
• BDO Canada LLP will be the auditor for Interlake School Division for this school year.
• The school board gave first reading to an indemnity bylaw and a procedural bylaw in the inaugural meeting. At the Sept. 23 meeting, they gave second reading to the indemnity bylaw and tabled second reading of the procedural bylaw.
