Local musician nabs guitar award

Date:

It was an evening that strummed at the heartstrings of a local musician who earned recognition for his talents on the guitar.

On Saturday, Nov. 4, talented musicians from across the province gathered at Club Regent Casino and Event Centre for the 2023 Manitoba Country Music Awards.

At the toe-tapping event, Lachlan McLean of Stonewall won the award in the category of All Star Band of the Year – Guitar. He was up against Max Dupas, Rylan Knaggs, Sean Borton, Troy Flamand and Brad Moggie.

“Being in the house band for the award ceremony, I was so busy learning the songs being performed that evening that I partially forgot I was one of the nominees myself,” McLean said.

“But it really was a special moment for me to realize that my fellow Manitoban musicians and industry members considered me deserving of the recognition. There are so many incredible talents in this province, so I’m especially honoured.”

Looking ahead, McLean will be playing guitar for Don Amero’s show “Amero Little Christmas” at the Burton Cummings Theatre on Dec. 9.
