Woodlands Elementary Grades 1 and 2 students painted orange rocks in honour of National Truth and Reconciliation Day last Friday Tribune photo by Jo-Anne Procter. The Asham Stompers visited Woodlands Elementary School last Friday. The seasoned young dancers shared their talents with students and even demonstrated footwork for the children to follow along Tribune photo by Jo-Anne Procter. Staff and children at Stonewall Children’s Centre dressed in orange last Friday to show their respect for those touched by National Truth and Reconciliation Tribune photo submitted. The U15AAA Female Interlake Lightning wore orange jerseys for their game last Saturday in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation Tribune photo by Joan Ransom. Students from Ecole Stonewall Centennial have been studying National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and created paper t-shirts to represent the 94 Calls to Action which will all be displayed on a banner that will hang on the windows of the South Interlake Regional Library in Stonewall Stonewall’s town office and entrance signs were lit up orange last week and over the weekend for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Everybody in Canada joins First Nations, Inuit and Metis Peoples in marking the day. It’s a day to pause, reflect and honour residential school survivors and those who didn’t return home. To carry forward the spirit that every child matters.
