Royal Quarry Wellness now open in Stonewall

Date:

A new Stonewall business received a warm welcome during its recent grand opening event.

On Friday, July 11, Royal Quarry Wellness opened its doors at Unit 4A-408 Main St.

Naturopath Mackayla Johnson launched the business to offer a peaceful and inviting place dedicated to holistic health and well-being.

“This nurturing space offers a comprehensive range of services, including naturopathic medicine, IV therapy, acupuncture and esthetic treatments such as chemical peels and microneedling, all designed to promote healing and rejuvenation,” she said.

“Each service is tailored to meet the unique needs of every individual, empowering them to become the best version of themselves.”

Massage therapy and athletic therapy will be added to the offerings soon. In addition, the local business includes an in-house dispensary with everything from supplements to dried herbs and medical-grade skin care products.

Johnson is a licensed naturopathic doctor in Manitoba. After graduating with a bachelor of science in biology from the University of Manitoba, she completed a four-year program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, where she received her doctorate of naturopathy.

“The best thing about being a naturopath is seeing the impact it can have on patients life and the joy the comes from it — whether that is helping someone lose weight, reduce their hair loss from stress, help support their fertility journey or increasing their energy throughout the day with some simple dietary changes,” she said.

“Every naturopath practises differently, so finding someone you connect with is so important, which is why the majority of us offer complimentary meet and greets. I often tell patients we really try to find the root cause of what is going on and then educate patients how it is impacting their health. I do a less-is-more approach so don’t like to overwhelm patients with too many supplements. We try to focus a lot with dietary and lifestyle changes.”

For Johnson, it’s an amazing experience to open the business in her hometown.

“The goal was always to come back to Stonewall and open a clinic,” she said, “so being able to accomplish that sooner than I expected to has been very rewarding.”

And while she looks ahead to a bright future, Johnson gives a nod to the past through the name of her new business.

“Back in the day, my grandparents used to own the Royal Quarry Restaurant in Stonewall from 1993 to 1996, where Sing Fei is now located,” she said. “It’s a little homage to some very important people in my life.”
