Stonewall council news in brief

A public hearing will be coming on up Aug. 28 regarding the 2023 year-end operating deficit and fund transfer from the capital development reserve. 

For the 2023 fiscal year, the Town of Stonewall incurred a deficit due to funding capital projects. These projects include land acquisition in conjunction with the personal care home project. 

The town intends to use funds from the capital development reserve to cover the cost of the land acquisition.

In other council news:

• The Association of Manitoba Municipalities will undertake a comprehensive review of the Municipal Board’s mandate, role and function to evaluate its relevance and value in the municipal sector. 

• Communities in Bloom judges will be touring the town from July 23 to 25.
