Stonewall RCMP investigating homicide in Teulon

RCMP are investigating a homicide following a fatal shooting in Teulon on Sunday night.

Stonewall RCMP responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on 7th Avenue SE at approximately 10:40 p.m. on July 13. When officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

His death is being investigated as a homicide.

While officers remained at the scene, another RCMP officer on patrol attempted to stop a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting. The suspect vehicle fled, leading to a pursuit that ended when the vehicle drove into a cornfield.

The area was contained and the RCMP Emergency Response Team was called in. A 24-year-old man, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was arrested without incident. Police say a firearm was located and seized.

The suspect remains in custody. Investigators say no other suspects are being sought at this time.

Stonewall RCMP, with assistance from RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
