Stonewall Stingers divisional volleyball champs

Date:

The Stonewall Centennial Stingers girls’ and boys’ teams capped a strong season by capturing the 2025–26 Interlake Divisional junior high volleyball championship banner on Nov. 25.

The Stingers’ Grade 8 Team Black boys edged Warren 15-13 in a tight third set to clinch the divisional title, earning their spot in the final after defeating Woodlands in the semifinal. Woodlands rebounded with a straight-sets win over Teulon to finish third.

In the girls’ division, Stonewall Gold put together an undefeated run to claim the championship. They downed Grosse Isle 25-19 and 25-15 in the final after knocking off Teulon in the semifinal and Balmoral in the quarter-final. Their round robin included wins over Woodlands, Stony Mountain and Stonewall Team Black. Teulon secured third place with a win over Warren.

Fresh off their divisional title, the girls travelled to Winnipeg for the Volleyball Manitoba Grade 8 provincials at Maples Collegiate over the weekend. Stonewall’s run ended in the quarter-final with a 15-25, 26-28 loss to the Charleswood Celtics.

Earlier in the tournament crossover, the Stingers dropped their opening set to the Grant Park Pirates 20-25 before rallying to take the next two 25-18 and 15-10. In round robin play, they split with the Holy Ghost Blazing Spirits — winning 25-23 before falling 25-15 — and with the Leila North Lions, earning a 25-19 win before an 11-25 loss. Stonewall also fell to the Edward Schreyer Barons 19-25 and 11-25.
