Successful goose shoot raises over $20,000 for community groups

Date:

The 22nd annual Stony Mountain Goose shoot  was held last weekend on Oct. 4 and 5. With 36 teams participating this year, including five youth teams, it showcases the dedication and spirit of local hunters and families alike.

The Goose Shoot is an annual fundraiser, and Lisa Deprez, one of the organizers, said they were fortunate to raise over $20,000 for four local community groups: the Stony Mountain Community Centre, Stony Mountain Community Association, Stony Mountain Minor Hockey and Skate Stony Mountain.

These funds will significantly benefit our comunity groups that work tirelessly to enrich the lives of residents in Stony Mountain. The enthusiasm from participants reflects both competition and camaraderie—elements that make this event so special.

Organizers are grateful to everyone who participated in the Stony Mountain Goose Shoot.

“Although some came back empty-handed, we sure had some good weigh-ins for the teams who shot their birds,” said Deprez.

This year’s 2024 Stony Mountain Goose Shoot winners are pictured above.
