Morden Roaring Lions looking for members

Date:

A Morden service club has been reborn with new leadership and a vision for expanding its community service.

A new committee has taken on spearheading the Morden Roaring Lions Club, a service-driven organization built on the values of leadership, inclusion, and volunteerism.

Under the mentorship of the Crystal City Lions Club, the Morden Roaring Lions are already making their presence felt across the region.

Led by president Jahangir Talukder and secretary Fahim Anwar, the club has assembled a growing team of 12 members who bring a diverse background and a shared passion for making a difference in the community.

The club recently held an organizing meeting, and Talukdar commented on their desire to stay connected with local businesses and grassroots initiatives.

“Our mission is simple but powerful: to serve,” he said.  “We want to be a club that listens to the needs of Morden and responds with meaningful action. Whether it’s organizing food drives, supporting seniors, helping local schools or responding to emergencies, our hands are ready to help.”

The club is actively seeking new members and volunteers. Anyone who has a heart for service, enjoys teamwork, or wants to build leadership experience is encouraged to get involved.

Membership is open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The club is particularly keen to welcome young professionals and families who are passionate about giving back.

Anwar highlighted the importance of collaboration in shaping the club’s direction.

“We’re reaching out to local businesses, non-profits, schools and the city council to identify partnership opportunities. Our focus is on real, impactful service that uplifts the people of Morden. We believe every small act of kindness can lead to something bigger.”

Under the global umbrella of Lions Clubs International, which is the world’s largest service organization with over 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries, the Morden Roaring Lions Club is committed to upholding the values of courage, service, and community engagement.

The club has already begun exploring future projects, including environmental clean-ups, health and wellness events, youth mentorship programs, and seasonal support for families in need.

Guiding Lion Cheryl McKitrick, who has been working closely with the club’s new leadership, expressed her enthusiasm for the group’s potential.

“It’s inspiring to see a group of individuals come together with such energy and vision. Morden is lucky to have this new Lions Club, and I believe they will do tremendous things for the community.”
