November 30 marked a momentous day for the Carman Golf and Curling Club as it played host to the 30th annual Carman Curl for Cancer event. This cancer fundraising bonspiel brought together curlers, spectators, and supporters alike to make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer. And what an impact it has been!
Over the course of three decades, Curl for Cancer has proven its unwavering commitment by donating well over $1 million towards cancer research and patient care. What started as a simple grassroots bonspiel in a small-town community has grown into something truly remarkable. It’s incredible to see how this once modest event has grown into so much more.

The Carman Curl for Cancer event celebrated 30 years of raising funds for cancer resources, patients and research on Nov. 30.
There were 14 curling teams in the bonspiel, and approximately 200 people who attended the banquet this year. The final numbers of how much was raised won’t be known until next week, but organizers note that it’s looking like another successful year.
There was a Rainbow Auction along with a banquet dinner and Live Auction.
Similar to previous years, all fundraising dollars will go towards supporting South Central Cancer Resource, Cancer Care Manitoba and Carman Palliative Care.

“The event wouldn’t be possible without the amazing support we receive from individuals and businesses who donate prizes, money and time towards the event,” said Carman Curl for Cancer organizer Brady McGillivary.
