The Miami Marlins put together a strong and resilient showing at the Provincial A/AA JV Girls Volleyball Championship, held Nov. 20–22 at Birtle Collegiate, advancing to the quarter-finals after an impressive run through pool play.
Miami opened the tournament with a hard-fought three-set victory over the host Birtle Falcons, rebounding from a 25–23 first-set loss to take the next two 25–16 and 15–8. The Marlins continued their momentum with another three-set win, defeating the Hapnot Kopper Kweens 21–25, 25–11 and 15–7.
Their third match proved just as tight, as Miami edged the Grandview Spartans 25–15, 18–25, 15–13 to secure their third straight victory. The Marlins closed out round-robin play with a straight-sets win over the Gilbert Plains Trojans, 25–23, 28–26, finishing undefeated in pool play.
In the quarter-final, Miami faced a strong Warren Wildcats squad. Despite several long rallies and late-set pushes, the Marlins fell 25–21, 25–20, ending their championship run in the round of eight.
The tournament concluded with Gabrielle-Roy Les Roys capturing the provincial title with a 25–12, 25–9 win over the Killarney Raiders.
For the Marlins, the weekend showcased depth, determination and poise under pressure — key ingredients that helped them reach the provincial playoff bracket and record one of their strongest seasons to date.
