Acclaimed songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and poet Scott Nolan is set to bring his blend of music and storytelling to southern Manitoba this month as part of the Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous concert series.
Nolan, a Winnipeg artist with a career that bridges music and poetry, will perform Sept. 25 in Carman and Sept. 26 in Sanford. The shows are part of Home Routes’ 18th season, which presents musicians in intimate venues such as living rooms, community halls and other gathering places.
Over the years, Nolan has built a reputation as one of Canada’s most compelling songwriters, with a catalogue of albums and a debut poetry collection, Moon Was a Feather, shortlisted for the Eileen McTavish Sykes Award for Best First Book. His songs have been recorded by Hayes Carll, Mary Gauthier, Watermelon Slim and Corin Raymond. He has also produced albums for William Prince, Stephen Fearing and Lynne Hanson.
Audiences can expect heartfelt lyrics and a captivating stage presence in settings designed to connect artist and audience.
The September Manitoba tour begins in Winnipeg before moving through Morden, Altona, Pilot Mound, Deloraine, Sainte Rose du Lac, Brandon and Gladstone ahead of the Carman and Sanford dates. A final concert is set for Sept. 27 in St. Norbert.
Home Routes, founded in 2007, has brought musicians into communities across the country for nearly two decades, keeping grassroots touring alive while creating lasting connections between performers and audiences.
