75 years ago — 1950… RCMP deliver toys to homes of needy children; Clarence Bedford re-elected president, Cam Johnston vice-president and Hilt Drake secretary-treasurer of the Ball Club; Carman Intermediate goalie Norm Langston outperforms Roland/Miami’s Ted Storey in an 8-6 contest; cross-rib roasts priced at 59 cents per pound at Safeway; 64 entries in the Sperling Bonspiel; two Carman Collegiate rinks, skipped by Bob Woods and Ken Takvam, compete in Winnipeg at the Manitoba High School Bonspiel; new 1951 Chevrolets and Pontiacs arrive at Hardy’s Garage.

50 years ago — 1975… Royal Bank opens a branch in Carman; RM faces repairs to the McEachern, Dunn and MacNair bridges; Legion elects Homewood’s John Penner as president, replacing George Arthur; track club members Rick Preston, Karen Skelton, Jeff Rose, Kevin King, Lorraine Fields, Diane Wilton, Cyndie Lynn and Sherri Lee McKay travel to the Saskatoon Games; Gulf Servico Centre’s Ted Gibson, Dennis Bell and Bob Clark extend season’s greetings; seniors receive 50 per cent and juniors 25 per cent of their marks as exams return after a six-year absence.

25 years ago — 2000… Active Living Centre site remains unresolved; coldest temperatures recorded since 1996; Mistletoe Ball hosted by Grace St. John’s and Carman United churches; Bill North rinks qualify for the Select and Senior Men’s events; “Butch” Harder retains his Wheat Board seat; Bar 8 Square Dance Club, with caller Charlie McCullough, entertains at the lodge; Carman Countrywide Furnishings holds a five-hour storewide stock reduction; Carman Health Auxiliary covers the cost of waiting-room curtains, a TV and VCR for training.
