Community rallies support for Fisher Branch CFRY talent night

Twenty talented acts put on their best performance at Fisher Branch Recreation Centre’s CFRY Radio Amateur Talent night on Feb. 21.

The night acted as a fundraiser for the rec centre with proceeds supporting ceiling renovation and change room shower upgrades.

Rec centre president Danya Ferris said they had a great turnout.

“All the contestants did a great performance,” she said. “From the young one to the older ones — they all did great.”

They raised approximately in $9,661.50 in pledges along with another $12,850 in sponsorships totalling $23,115, exceeding the boards expectations.

“The audience support helped bring the community together and made the event a success,” Ferris added. “Attendees were asking when we are doing this again.”

Winners of the evening included: Most Talented: 1- Emiliya Vasyl’yeva; 2- Luke Anseeuw; 3- Lynette and Brandon Letexier. Most Pledges: 1- Tyson Boychuk ($1415); 2- Lynette and Brandon Letexier ($1,195); 3- Kat Vieira and Daniel Lausman $674.50). CFRY Most Promising Talent: Syril Staana and Micah Arevalo.

The board looks forward to hosting future talent nights in the community.
