Interlake Co-op’s annual Fuel Good Day once again brought neighbours together Sept. 16 to fill up their tanks and support local initiatives.
Arborg gas bar/C-store manager Andrea Masiak said the day was a record-setter.
“Fuel Good Day went really well this year. We saw record numbers of customers coming for fuel which made the day a huge success,” she said.
Ten cents from every litre of fuel sold was directed to local causes. With 17,899 litres pumped, the Okno Community Committee and the Arborg Play Group each received $895. The Okno group also raised an additional $867.65 through its on-site barbecue.
“It is great seeing the customer support for the groups that we chose for the event,” Masiak said.
Fuel Good Day is a national Co-op initiative, but each location directs its funds to organizations close to home. Interlake Co-op has been involved since the campaign began in 2017.
General manager Jordan Cook noted the initiative reflects the Co-op’s long-standing commitment to community support.
“At Interlake Co-op, we are pleased we can support local fundraising efforts like this,” he said. “Together with the support of our members and communities, we can make a positive difference.”
Masiak echoed that message, emphasizing the company’s role as a partner in local life.
“Interlake Co-op will always give back to the community in any way that we can. We want to be that community partner that makes a positive difference in our community and make our guests and team members feel at home,” she said.
