The Arborg Ice Dawgs remained unchanged in the Capital Region Junior Hockey League standings after dropping a pair of games last weekend, showing resilience on Saturday despite coming up short.

Arborg opened the weekend at home Friday with a 5-1 loss to the St. Malo Warriors. While the Ice Dawgs kept the shot count even, they were unable to contain the visitors early, as St. Malo scored all five of its goals over the opening two periods.
Brandon Burak provided the lone response for Arborg, breaking Logan Mazinke’s shutout bid partway through the contest. However, neither team found the scoresheet again as the Ice Dawgs’ comeback attempt stalled. Mazinke finished with 27 saves for St. Malo, while Paxton Moore stopped 21 shots in the Arborg crease.
The Ice Dawgs showed more offensive punch the following night on the road in La Broquerie but again came up on the wrong side of the scoreline in a 7-5 loss to the Habs. Arborg outshot La Broquerie 47-35, but a two-goal performance from Connor Tallaire proved to be the difference.
Burak continued his strong weekend with a pair of goals, while Brycen Johannesson, Dylan Woytowich and Brody Maxwell added singles for the Ice Dawgs. Moore and Zavery Wahoski split time in goal, combining for 28 saves. At the other end, Caleb Legal turned aside 42 shots to secure the win for La Broquerie.
Arborg now turns its attention to two more games before the Christmas break, facing Beausejour and St. Malo. The Ice Dawgs sit at 2-13-0-2-0 on the season, tied with the North Winnipeg Satellites for sixth place in the CRJHL standings.
