Storm FC to play spoiler after missing playoff cut

Date:

Storm FC’s quest for another postseason run officially came to an end last week.

The Arborg-based club was defeated 4-1 by Crescentwood Saturday on Sept. 8, eliminating them from playoff contention after reaching the postseason a year ago in the Manitoba Major Soccer League Division 5.

Cyranno Dueck had the lone Storm FC goal in the match, which took place at Buhler Recreation Park.

That turned out to be Storm’s only action last week as player availability forced them to forfeit Thursday’s game against Purple Cobras FC. The match is recorded as a 3-0 loss, leaving Storm with a 3-13-1 record for 10th place in the Manitoba Major Soccer League Division 4.

Storm now has just one match left on the calendar — a date with Southside FC on Monday at Shaughnessy Park Field.

They’ll have the chance to play spoiler, as Southside enters the match tied with Crescentwood Saturday for the final Division 4 playoff spot.

Due to press deadlines, the score from that match was unavailable at press time.
