We will remember

Date:

Carman residents gathered at the Legion on Tuesday to honour Canada’s fallen and mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe, first commemorated on May 8, 1945. The colour party marched in to open the ceremony, setting a solemn tone for the wreath laying that followed as community members paid tribute to local veterans.

Members of the Carman Scouts delivered a moving reading of In Flanders Fields, while Carl Heaman-Warne offered a lively musical piece. Col. (ret.) Dwayne Lemon, OMM, MSC, CD, DMD, shared personal reflections from his years of service, bringing the ceremony to a thoughtful close and reminding those gathered of the enduring importance of remembrance.
