Ken and Audrey Klimpke of 2 Keith Cosens Drive earned the Stonewall Communities in Bloom Yard of the Week honour this past week. For the past 29 years, the couple has worked together each summer to maintain their manicured yard. Passersby are drawn to the striking display of canna lilies and geraniums. The canna bulbs have been dug up each fall and overwintered for more than three decades. A ninebark shrub is nestled among the cannas, adding depth to the garden palette, while zinnias, salvia, marigolds, sedum and dusty miller provide contrast. Along the front of the house, a variety of pots showcase colourful coleus and trailing ice plant. A new yard is recognized each week until the end of August. Nominations can be submitted at Stonewall Home Hardware or the Stonewall Library using ballot boxes marked “Yard of the Week.”

Waring Enterprises Ltd. is this week’s Communities in Bloom “Business of the Week,” earning the 2025 Best Blooming Business Award. The family-owned landscape supply company, located at 156 Fourth Street East, has been serving Stonewall, Winnipeg and the Interlake since 1976. The Francis family, who own the business, leave the decorating to employee Eleanor Unrau, who develops a new vision each spring to beautify the roadside access and office entrance with planters brimming with vibrant plants. Two judges — one from CIB and one from the Stonewall and District Chamber of Commerce — evaluate storefronts to recognize creativity and curb appeal. Pictured left are Eleanor Unrau, her nine-year-old dog Wiley, and Hayden Turner.
