A GoFundMe has been launched to support a young boy and his family as he begins treatment for a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

On Aug. 15, Kwin was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, a fast-growing type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. While the illness is considered rare and aggressive, doctors have told the family it typically responds well to treatment.
Kwin received his first dose of chemotherapy the following day and will remain in hospital as treatment continues. His mother, Kim, is staying with him throughout his care.
Family friend Jody, who set up the fundraiser, said many people have asked how they can help.
“Kim has asked for prayers for her sweet little boy, and I’m asking for support with the extra expenses they’ll face while Kwin is in the hospital,” Jody wrote on the campaign page. “No donation is too small, and anything helps.”
Funds raised will go directly to Kwin’s family to cover costs while his mother is away from work.
Despite the difficult diagnosis, Jody said both Kim and Kwin remain in good spirits.
“I was able to visit them and they were both cracking jokes, the same Kim and Kwin we all know and love,” she said. “I have no doubt little dude is going to kick lymphoma’s ass.”
