Lightning Report: Interlake clubs all in action last week

The U13 AA Female Interlake Lightning opened their season with a pair of losses, falling 4-1 to the Winnipeg Avros Black on Saturday and 3-1 to the Winnipeg Avros Red on Sunday. The team sits at 0-2. They’ll look to rebound this weekend when they visit the Central Plains Capitals on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5:45 p.m. at the BDO Centre for the Community, before hosting the Brandon Wheat Kings on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 12:15 p.m. at Stony Mountain Community Centre.

The U15 AAA Female Interlake Lightning also faced a tough stretch, dropping all three games last week against the Winnipeg Avros Red, Winnipeg Avros White, and Winnipeg Ice White. Sitting at 0-3, they’ll aim to earn their first win when they host the Winnipeg Ice Blue on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 3:30 p.m. at the Arborg & District Arena.

The U18 AA Female Stonewall Blues battled to a 3-3 tie with the Winnipeg Ice on Tuesday before falling 4-1 to the Eastman Sharks on Sunday. With an 0-1-1-0 record, they’ll visit the Winnipeg Ice on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7:45 p.m. at Eric Coy Arena, then return home to face the Winnipeg Avros on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 4:30 p.m. at Access Credit Union Arena.

The U18 AAA Female Interlake Lightning found better success south of the border, earning two wins, a loss, and a tie over four games at the NIT Tournament in Blaine, Minn. In league play, they sit at 1-6 and return home for a pair of games — Saturday, Oct. 25 against the Central Plains Capitals at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26 versus the Eastman Selects at 4:30 p.m., both at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex.

The U15 AA Male Interlake Lightning dropped a 5-2 decision to the Wild Red on Saturday, sitting at 0-1 to start their campaign. They’ll play three games this week — Thursday, Oct. 23 at Thrashers Blue (8:15 p.m. at Gateway Recreation Centre), Saturday, Oct. 25 at Bruins Brown (4:15 p.m. at Transcona East End Community Club), and Sunday, Oct. 26 at home against Thrashers Grey (3:45 p.m. at Stony Mountain Community Centre).

The U15 AAA Male Interlake Lightning were blanked 12-0 by the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday, falling to 0-7-1-0. They’ll host the Norman Northstars next on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5:15 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex.

The U17 AAA Male Interlake Lightning went winless in three outings last week, leaving them at 1-5-0-1. They’ll host the Thrashers on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex before visiting the Cougars on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Souris.

The U18 AAA Male Interlake Lightning also continue to search for their first victory after dropping all three of last week’s games, leaving them at 0-8. They’ll visit the Central Plains Capitals on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Stride Place, then head to Kenora to face the Thistles on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Moncrief Construction Sports Centre.
