Faskerti wraps up season strong ahead of national championship
Eight-year-old Easton Faskerti of Stonewall capped off his MJT Mini Tour season with a strong second-place finish in the Boys 8U division at the final Manitoba stop, held July 19 at The Players Course in Winnipeg.
Faskerti fired an 86 on the par-72, 3000-yard course, placing just five strokes back of division winner Ben Hill of Winnipeg, who carded an 81. The event marked the largest Mini Tour field of the year in Manitoba, highlighting the continued growth of junior golf in the province.
Faskerti had already earned his qualifying spot earlier this summer for the MJT Mini Tour National Championship, set to take place next month at Tsawwassen Springs Golf Club in British Columbia. His latest performance added momentum heading into the national event, reinforcing his status as one of the top U8 golfers in the province.
Third place in the Boys 8U division was shared by Neven Childerhouse of Winnipeg and Liam Penner of Mitchell, who both finished with a score of 95.
Hosted on a scenic layout with water-lined holes and tree-lined fairways, the July 19 event brought together top 12U talent from across Manitoba competing for division titles and medals on Canada’s most competitive junior golf circuit.
The MJT Mini Tour, run by PGA of Canada professionals, offers competitive opportunities for players aged 12 and under and acts as a stepping stone toward national and international competition.
