The Morden Elks Lodge recently made the draw in its annual Cash is King fundraising raffle. Half of the money is $15,000 in prizes awarded to three winners while the other half is donated to local charities. “This is our 13th year of doing this raffle,” noted club member Cam Fehr. “In total, we have sold over $400,000 worth of tickets in those 13 years. We have donated over $180,000 to various local organizations and projects … and given back a quarter of a million in prize money.” Left: Rob Dudgeon, Fehr and Shawn Olafson serve as the raffle committee and made the draw recently at the Morden Legion. The $10,000 first prize went to Dick Fehr (show above, at right, with Fehr), while the second prize of $3,000 went to Lois Dudgeon and the third prize of $2,000 went to John Penner. “It is our single biggest revenue generator for the Elks organization,” noted Fehr. “We’re still feeling it out as to where this year’s proceeds will go this year.”
