The Riverview Golf Course hosted a dinner and glow golf event to a sold-out crowd of 65 supporters last Friday evening in Morris.
Attendees gathered for a pulled-pork dinner, mingled over drinks and practice putts on the green, and glow golfed with a shot-gun start at 9:30 p.m.
Although true nightfall didn’t happen until after 10 o’clock, participants decorated their golf carts with glow sticks and used glowing golf balls and fluorescent-coloured items to brighten their game.

Board president Cheryl Demarcke is pleased with the success of the 2024 season thus far.
“We had an early season, have exceptional management and staff in the clubhouse this year, and on-going board of directors involvement. With consistency, we’ve been able to get busier and busier. Word-of-mouth from the community [is also helping].”
The course is a far cry from what it was two years ago when spring flood waters receded, leaving behind sludge across many of the riverside fairways.
“Some fairways were brutal, so slimy that we couldn’t walk on them,” shared Brian Recksiedler, grounds maintenance supervisor. “The worst part of [Red River] silt is that it gets rock hard when it dries, nothing grows, but we’re getting there. We weren’t able to open at all in 2022. Some of the lower holes struggled in 2023.”
For the 2024 season, the course has rebounded—all nine holes are open and looking great.
“We hosted 40 people last week from Roseau River First Nation,” said Demarcke. “There are tournaments booked throughout the summer. I’ve heard good things about the affordability of the food [at the clubhouse]. The one complaint I often receive is that the portions are too big.”
Current golf offers include 50 per cent off membership for new members, 2-for-1 Tuesdays which includes 9 holes and cart for two people, Wednesday Men’s Night, Thursday Night Mix League, and kids under nine golfing for free. A Stay & Play Package is coming soon.
