Shortly after midnight, officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17 in the RM of Fisher when they observed a vehicle towing an enclosed trailer travelling at a slow speed. Police initiated a stop and spoke with the occupants — a woman driving and a male passenger — who told officers they had travelled to Peguis First Nation to pick up a car part and were returning to Winnipeg.

During an inspection of the trailer, officers located multiple car parts belonging to a white Dodge Challenger. RCMP confirmed that some of the parts matched a vehicle reported stolen in Winnipeg on Nov. 25.

Police also discovered a large quantity of Canadian currency concealed inside a box, along with additional cash and a significant amount of prescription drugs found on the male passenger.

A 43-year-old female from Winnipeg was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime and later released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date.

A 24-year-old male, also from Winnipeg, was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime and possession for the purpose of trafficking prescription drugs. He was released on an undertaking.

Fisher Branch RCMP continue to investigate.
