Lakers win tournament gold

The Gimli Lakers varsity boys’ basketball team captured the championship at The MacGregor Basketball Varsity Boys Invitational with a 76-53 win over Prairie Mountain/Nellie McClung (Co-Op) in the finals on Jan. 10. The Lakers opened the tournament with an 82-50 victory over Landmark 96ers before defeating Carman 79-30 in semifinal play. Gimli is set to compete next in tournaments at Gimli, Carberry and Gabrielle Roy.
