The Morweena Raptors varsity girls and boys volleyball teams are both headed to the Provincial Top 10 weekend after strong showings at their respective Round 1 qualifiers on Nov. 15.
Girls sweep qualifier to earn first automatic berth
The Morweena Raptors varsity girls dominated their Provincial Round 1 Qualifier, sweeping all three of their round-robin matches to secure the first automatic berth to provincials.
Playing confident, composed volleyball from start to finish, the Raptors opened with a convincing 25-8, 25-20 win over the Real-Berard Jaguars. They stayed in control in their second match, topping the Dufferin Christian Stingers 25-16, 25-21.
Their toughest test came against the Elm Creek Cobras. Morweena held firm in key moments, taking the match 25-12, 27-25 to finish the round robin undefeated and claim the direct berth.
