The biggest boxing event in Selkirk’s history was announced last week.
Canada and El Salvador’s national boxing teams are set for an international clash on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Selkirk Recreation Complex.
Organizer Devin Tomko of Maulers Boxing in Selkirk confirmed the 12-fight card last week as Maulers Boxing’s Fight Night V.
“It’s Canada Day weekend, so we’ve got the best finish of the week to have Team Canada versus Team El Salvador at the rec centre,” Tomko said last Thursday.
“We’re hoping to make it a big event with VIP tables available and to fill up that rec centre, so it’s just closing out Canada Day weekend with a bang here in Selkirk.”
Fight Night V will also include several local bouts, including one featuring Maulers prodigy Damir Kudusov.
The remainder of the fighters — including national team members — have yet to be determined.
Tomko secured the event through discussions with Canadian national team members, along with his connections from his own fighting days to Sammy Contreras, president of Fesalbox, the Salvadoran Boxing Federation.
Fight Night V will be the fifth card Tomko and Maulers have hosted since launching the series in 2024 — and it will be their largest venue yet.
“It’s essentially just bringing the community together,” Tomko said. “Obviously we like to help as many people as we can with boxing — getting them off the streets and getting them in — but at the same time, we want to create a great pastime for everybody in the town. So we’re hoping to get as many people out as possible and spread boxing around.”
Tickets will go on sale in March 2026 at Boston Pizza Selkirk, Iron Image Barbell Club and potentially more locations.
General admission tickets are $20, while reserved ringside seats are $40.
Doors on July 4 will open at 6 p.m., with fights starting at 7 p.m.
