The Stonewall Collegiate Rams capped an exciting finish on home turf, winning the consolation championship 3–1 in overtime after Maddox Keeping broke the deadlock and Reese James added the insurance marker against the Minnedosa Chancellors.
The Rams had opened with a 4–0 loss to the W.C. Miller Aces but regrouped to beat the R.D. Parker Collegiate Trojans and earn a berth in the consolation final.
“We are so proud of our guys,” said Rams head coach Jason Cassils. “They never give up and always stick with the game plan. Chico has also done a very good job at teaching them to be disciplined and structured well. They all had a role and performed the best they had all year. It was so nice to see it all come together at the right time.”
Cassils said the team faced tough opposition from the start. “We had a very tough game in our opening match. W.C. Miller was quite strong and kept us under pressure the entire game.”
He credited the team’s veterans for setting the tone. “Our returning players were great leaders and helped the young guys. Our captains did a wonderful job of keeping the guys fired up and focused all year. Carson, Ashley, Owen and Dylan were great leaders and played huge minutes. Our young guys also played extremely well and our keeper Grayson was on his game all weekend too.”
The home-field crowd also added to the moment. “The guys loved having all of their family and friends there to watch,” said Cassils. “It made it a special weekend. Thank you to everyone that came out to support the boys.”
“This year’s team was fully committed from day one,” he added. “We always had over 20 players at each practice and it showed this weekend. The future looks bright for our team moving into next year. A huge thanks to coach Chico for all the time he put into the program this year and in previous years.”
The Stonewall girls went 0–2, losing 5–1 to Morden in the quarterfinal on Oct. 10, then fell 2–0 to Niverville in the consolation semifinal on Oct. 11.
Co-hosted by Collège Stonewall Collegiate and Morweena Christian School, the provincials drew strong crowds and praise for organization and hospitality.
“It’s special to host provincials right here at home,” said Cassils. “The support from fans, families and the community made it an unforgettable weekend for everyone involved.”
The Morweena Christian School Raptors claimed bronze with a 2–1 win over the W.C. Miller Aces in the third-place game. Morweena opened with a 3–2 victory over Minnedosa, fell 10–0 to Garden Valley in the semifinal, then bounced back to secure the podium.
“It means a lot for our school and our community,” said Raptors coach [insert name]. “The boys played with heart all weekend and represented Morweena really well.”
Morweena standouts Jamin Penner and Ethan Kornelsen were named to the 2025 Boys Provincial A–AAA Soccer High School All-Star Team.
