Stonewall council news in brief

The 2024 Kin Canada Week ran from Feb. 18 to 24. 

Stonewall council made a declaration to recognize this awareness week as well as 2024 Kin Canada Day on Feb. 20, which marks the 104th anniversary of the all-Canadian service organization. 

Council encouraged residents to celebrate Stonewall’s local clubs and congratulate local Kin Canada club members who give their time and talent to improve the region. 

In other council news:

• Council adopted a policy for the rural civic addressing system.

• Council accepted a quotation for $14,440 plus tax from Jasperson’s Greenhouse Nursery to supply flowers to the Town of Stonewall for 2024. 

• Coun. Ron Maryniuk is authorized to attend the 2024 municipal weed control update seminar on March 13 in Carberry. All costs will be paid according to the municipal indemnity bylaw.

• Council conditionally approved a subdivision application related to properties at 757 and 769 2nd Ave. North. 

• During a special meeting on Feb. 5, council gave first reading to a bylaw to establish a rate for urban services to the Town of Stonewall, excluding the annexed lands.

• Registration is now open for Quarry Park Spring Break Camp, which will run from March 25 to 28 for kids aged five to 11. The Monday to Thursday program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at a cost of $35 per day. Space is limited. Registration is available at https://app.univerusrec.com/stonewallpub/courses/.
