Stonewall hosts MJHL matchup with Blues and Terriers

Date:

There was a Manitoba Junior Hockey League showdown between the Winnipeg Blues and Portage Terriers on the afternoon of Jan. 15 in Stonewall. Fans who filled the stands included students from Woodlands, Grosse Isle and Stonewall. Both squads skated hard for the win, with the Terriers pulling away to claim a 5–1 victory. Brady Green scored the lone goal for the Blues. Several Winnipeg Blues players, including Brady and Brennan Green, Kyson Lindsay, Kannen Kirkwood and Hayden Ritter, are living in Stonewall this season through the team’s billet program. Brady and Brennan Green, along with Lindsay, are billeted by local resident Amanda Clarke and her family. Meanwhile, Kirkwood and Ritter are staying with Ben and Nikki Cameron. Intermission excitement ramped up with a chuck-a-puck contest, where Stonewall Blues player Connor Billingham pocketed $89 after landing his puck closest to centre ice.
