The Arborg Agricultural Society is pulling out all the stops for the 2025 Arborg Agricultural Fair, returning to the Silver Community Centre Fairgrounds July 19 and 20 with two full days of rodeo thrills, family-friendly attractions, and local heritage on proud display.
Now more than a century old, the Arborg Ag Society has long served as a cornerstone of community connection and rural celebration — and this year’s event will be no exception.
“We are excited to have new permanent stock equipment for this year’s rodeo,” said Jinny Sigurdson, president of the Arborg & District Agricultural Society. “We’ve added new bucking chutes and a timed event penning area — it’s an investment in the long-term future of the event and the competitors who come here.”
Rodeo Highlights
Sanctioned by the Heartland Rodeo Association, the main rodeo events include bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, and horse team racing. Performances take place Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m., with wild pony races scheduled during intermissions — a fun and daring team event for kids aged 14 and under.
Participants must bring their own helmets, vests and gloves, register an hour before the rodeo, and have a parent or guardian sign a waiver.
Community Celebration from Dawn to Dusk
Saturday kicks off at 11 a.m. and includes:
• Turn N’ Burn Horse Gymkhana
• ATV Mud Bog (1 p.m. start)
• Antique Tractor Pull (1 p.m.)
• Kids Zone & Inflatables
• Ricklyn Petting Zoo
• Merchant Mall & Food Trucks
• East and West Beer Gardens
• Live Family Social featuring “Up In Flames” (8 p.m.–1 a.m.)
• Mechanical Bull (8–11 p.m.)
The event is “jam-packed with excitement for all ages,” Sigurdson said. “There’s something for everyone — and lots of food options to try while you take it all in.”
On Sunday, festivities begin early with a pancake breakfast hosted by Access Credit Union from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a second rodeo performance, tractor pull, and the arrival of the 2025 Grey Cup Festival Community Tour at noon. The Grey Cup trailer will offer football-themed games, giveaways, and photo opportunities.
Tractor Pull Tradition Gets a Boost
The Antique Tractor Pull — a signature event — runs Saturday and Sunday starting at 1 p.m. and noon, respectively. It welcomes tractors built before 1960 in both stock and modified classes, sorted into eight weight divisions.
“This year we rebuilt the track, rebuilt the loading ramp and added power and water,” said Sigurdson. “Most of the work and equipment were donated — a testament to the strength and generosity of our community.”
Growth Fueled by Support
Sigurdson emphasized that the rodeo’s continued growth is only possible through collaboration.
“This is a signature event for the area involving two R.M.s,” she said. “We had many sponsors and in-kind donations that made this weekend possible. The event has really grown and evolved throughout the years.”
From the Manitoba Hydro Community Crew and Turn N’ Burn Horse Gymkhana, to artisan vendors, bouncers, water tag games and fireworks Friday night, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy a full weekend on the fairgrounds.
